Canton’s Amtrak station was built at the same site where the city’s Pennsylvania RR station once stood. Only two routes ever went through Canton’s Amtrak including; the Broadway Limited (Chicago-NYC) and the Capitol Limited (Chicago-Washington DC) routes. Though the Amtrak building took $200,000 to complete in 1978; the station was only active until 1990. The two lines were rerouted through nearby Akron and Alliance respectively.
