Marion, OH Union Station, Est. 1902

Being at the what was the heart of Ohio’s rail transport network. Marion’s Union Station has a double tracked RR diamond on both sides of the depot; showing how important Marion was for bring a hub in rail transport. Consequently there is railroad Ines on the eastern, western, and northern sides. Even though the depot no linger serves passengers; 100 daily freight trains still pass this beautiful station and its diamonds. This includes; 30 CSX, 27 NS, and 25 CR trains daily, as well as locally owned locomotives every now and then.

To the north, the once Erie and NY Central lines are now owned by Conrail (CR). The eastern tracks were once owned by Penn RR (PRR) and now are owned by Norfolk Southern (NS). Finally on the western side, the former Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) line is now owned by CSX. 

During its active passenger years; the station building was owned and maintained by C&O. Great place for viewing passing trains along the numerous lines. The building now houses a railroad museum flanked with a Northern & Western (N&W) caboose on its eastern side.
