Iron Triangle; Fostoria, OH //
The Iron Triangle is basically like if 3 interstates interchanged at the same point, Located in Fostoria, OH, about 40 miles south of Toledo at the meeting point of Hancock, Seneca, and Wood counties, is the site of the triple double-tracked diamond crossings railfan park that sees about 100 trains per day. Fostoria has hosted many railroads through the years dating back to its first, Lake Erie & Western RR, in the 1850s. The diamond shape was completed already by the late 1800s, as Fostoria was serviced through Chesapeake & Ohio by 1872, Baltimore & Ohio by 1873, and the New York Chicago & St. Louis Railway by the 1880s. In the present however consolidation is in, as Norfolk Southern and CSX own 1 or 2 lines respectively. Other historical structures on the site include; the former New York Central Depot and Jackson Street Tower, along with a former C&O Depot. Fostoria was also served by Amtrak 'til 2005 on the Three Rivers and Broadway Limited lines
